Ken wrote above that he " can’t remember one candidate that ever mentioned following the Constitution, except for Ron Paul. He was the only one. All the others, including Mitt Rommey, hardly mentioned the Constitution at all." I note that Mitt Romney is seriously considering running again for President in 2010. His demonstrated disdain for both certain constitutional and moral principles needs to be brought to the attention of as many American LDS voters as possible. He serves as a classic example of how most American LDS voters have failed to awaken to the existence of “secret combinations” and also to their responsibility to honour the US Constitution.

Romney has been advised of his failures to support specific constitutional and moral principles, and also of his failure to speak of when God spoke to men subsequent to his speaking to Moses at the bush. He may try to clean up his act. I have no faith that he will. Therefore, I think it behoves us to watch him closely and find ways to make his failures known to as many LDS as possible.

Our American heritage as passed to us by our forefathers is the Constitution. Those signers of that document risked their lives, fortunes and reputations... they were few in number but did that which was right. Let us not forget the blood that was spilled on our shores in the name of freedom. My ancestors left the Book of Mormon to help give us courage in these troubled times. I may not be able to save my country but I will save the Constitution for my children at any cost. I have my faith, my fellow patriots and the Lord God... nothing else matters for we are the army of Helaman.

The only 2008 candidates for federal office that I know of who did not demonstraate disdain for the US Constitution and constitutional principles were Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin. I wish I could believe we had a chance of restoring our freedoms as given us by the Constitution as intended by those who finalized it. But I am afraid that there are too many Amereicans who would not want to return to such a governmnet. And among those who might be aware of their responsibility to defend and uphold constitutional principles are many who judge candidates by other criteria which in 2008 misled many to vote for a presidential candidate who had demonstrated lack of intellect to understand the Constitution and/or lack of integrity to be guided by it.
