posted you to my myspace! Keep up the great work!

Hey we appreciate it. Thanks a ton. :)

  3. I agree with Johnny at 7 minutes into the broadcast. There would be chaos if all social programs were eliminated by the federal government tomorrow. A lot of people would be hurt and it’s never gonna happen anyway. A very judicial, comprehensive, and well-thought out plan would need to be formulated.

Ezra T. Benson in The Proper Role of Government said, “In my opinion, the bulk of the transition could be accomplished within a ten-year period and virtually completed within twenty years.” I believe it would probably take a little longer because things have grown far worse since he wrote that pamphlet. These social programs are endemic to our society; they are part of the national psyche and the older generation expects the benefits from these programs. I, for one, don’t want to try to convince retirees to give up programs that they’ve spent their entire lifetimes paying into. It’s a waste of time. I’ve tried!

For example, to phase out Social Security 30 years MIGHT be adequate. You would need to set up deadlines for where benefits cease. You could say, anyone that’s 50 or 55 (or whatever) by this deadline will receive benefits. Anyone who isn’t will not. That way, we pay for the older generation until they die off instead of trying to convince them that Socialism is evil. ;) And those of us stuck paying still have time to prepare financially for our golden years.

Yes, we would essentially be paying for the “sins of our fathers.” But conversely we would be setting up a society free of tyranny for our children’s sake. What I am saying is, we would have to make a sacrifice for the good of our country. God would certainly prosper a people which undertook such an action IMO. We’d all probably be very rich AND a blessed people at the same time!

Of course there may be better ways of phasing out programs like Social(ized) Security. The above is the best that I’ve come up with. Look forward to any of your suggestions.

    >> It would be interesting to see an in-depth analysis of phasing all of these programs out (health care, welfare, retirement, education, insurance, agriculture, etc.) and a realistic time-table for doing so.

  4. Oh and eliminate the Federal Reserve! (had to get that one in there)

  5. JC says:

Sure, it makes sense to me. I guess I’d leave that to politicians. Rather than be the one who does the compromising, I’d like to be the one to help create the ‘evil-rejecting’ crowd that the politicians have to compromise with. How exactly they bow to the desires of the new landscape that is created via the new media that promulgates liberty oriented shows will not be my concern, as long as they actually end up doing it.

Of course I think that’s the optimistic view however. I think that a more realistic scenario is that the whole thing would collapse on itself. The people involved in teh whole federal structure have every incentive to use every means avilable to them to perpetuate their living on the backs of others. They’ll continue to seek to preserve it until the very end when the currency is finally worthless and/or people stop accepting it and violence rules the streets. I think that we all instinctively know that it will get worse before it gets better. The only question in my mind is how and when.

Still I could hope and wish for peaceful solutions that lead to Liberty. I think that’s what we should all be working for. If we see a glimmer of a chance to enjoy more Liberty, we should shoot for it. How exactly it’s executed is of less concern to me.
