Valiantly fighting in the cause of liberty means much more than just the political principles one espouses. It also includes living a life of liberty – properly exercising agency, even in the face of tyranny and oppression, will allow one’s burdens to be lightened. This episode is an introduction to a series of episodes dedicated to the pursuit of liberty through seeking to implement true principles in all aspects of our lives.

I enjoyed the interplay and exchange of ideas between you and Marissa and am looking forward to listening and learning. I especially appreciated that you emphasized that we are responsible to fulfill two roles: that of active patriot and of actively trying to become more like Jesus Christ. I just happened today to re-read President Hinckley’s November 2001 General Conference address after 911, “The Times In Which We Live” and it was good to be reminded that even though things are going to get very bad and some may die, all will be well with us if we have faith and are obedient. IT is as you said….the basics…and there are things we must do to prepare. Good work, Jeremy and Marissa….when is the next podcast?
OK, I am kinda a harsh guy, so don’t take it personal.
I liked the back and forth. It went very well.
Near the end is wear my main “beef” comes from.
Marissa seemed to be basically saying we should just accept and just be more positive about our “awful situation” (Moroni’s words, not mine).
Did I misunderstand?
Good mix of humor. Good content and good “set up” episode. Looking forward to future episodes.
Hey Bryan,
It’s hard to know exactly what a person is saying when we’re reading it, but I’ll try to understand your question as best as I can. Did you mean that I’m saying we should ONLY accept and change our attitude and all will be well? Cuz if that’s the case then my answer is HECK NO! Next is we have to change our outlook on all that is going around us, change it to a knowledge that the Lord will prevail over all! Then we have to GET TO WORK! And that is what the rest of our podcasts will be about. What to DO next. I’m all about action. :)
You go, Gina! I am disappointed you never dropped the furna bomb, but at least you said salty. Really helpful comments from me, huh? It’s a great reminder that we are in charge of & in control of our own happiness. It is empowering knowing we can do a lot of things for ourselves & pursue our own liberty. Keep me posted on future podcasts!
The choices we are making day to day are the most important, but we must not forget that we may not be able to make the choices we want to make if we don’t protect our freedom ( through the political process). The role of government is huge in the envoirment we provide for our children. I have always felt strongly that we must be INVOLVED in our schools and communities and be aware of what is going on outside of our homes. We can be an influence for good by speaking up and speaking out. I have had many experiences working in the system and trying to make a difference.
I love that you and Jeremey see the value of the constitution and the divine role that it plays. You young people will be the ones who have to be the leaders of tomorrow. One of the best things you can do in your homes besides living and teaching the gospel, it to teach your children how the government works and the importance of being a responsible citizen. The Lord can use as instruments if we become educated and are willing to get out of our comfort zones. I am happy to know that you both are thinking about these things. Good job!
