Only we call them gangs. These include especially the ethnic gangs (crips, bloods, ms-13, all the ones I don't know about because I haven't studied them) and also white gangs such as Hell's Angels type motorcycle gangs, etc. And yes, they are repsonsible for much of the violence in our cities, sometimes as much as 80% by some estimates, and they have in many cases in a practical sense destroyed the effectiveness of "legitimate" local government in maintaining normal law and order. In fact I recently read a post here http://market-ticker.denninger.net/archives/1993-How-Long-Before-You-Wake-Up,-Politicos.html that claims that these gangs and their friends and family members - "tribes" - if you will, outnumber all federal, state,and local law enforcement by somewhere between 5 and 10 to 1, and represents a huge crises of violence and societal breakdown just waiting to happen if economic conditions get any worse. Oh, the damage that would be done to our complex industrial society would make the fulfullment of prophecies for our time only that much worse than what happened to the Nephites. Frankly I'm grateful that Baptists are not allowed to be a part of the Government. They hate Mormons and would anihilate all of us if they were allowed to. The only reason they don't burn our houses down and kill the Bretheren is that it is against laws that will be enforced today. This is a nation of religious freedom but it cannot be allowed to structure our government. Godly men can be elected and they can lead effectively in their various offices but false "religions" must not be allowed to set the standards for the nation. We are taught, as Latter Day Saints that even during the Millenium, when Christ reigns supreme that Godly men will be a part of Government and religious freedom allowed but does anyone of us actually believe that with Christ reigning that those of other faiths will be allowed to place their false religious beliefs over the people through the Government???
